APIVex for AI assistants
Give Cursor or Codex access to APIVex data APIs through the Model Context Protocol (MCP). Ask for data in your own words and let your assistant choose the API tool.
Verified with Cursor and Codex. Connect to one API collection or the full catalog.
Use your APIVex API key. Data requests count toward the same allowance as REST calls.
No server to install or maintain. Your assistant connects securely over HTTPS.
Choose an API and copy the configuration into your AI client.

Requires Node.js LTS. The mcp-remote bridge runs locally and connects to APIVex over HTTPS.
Open Settings → Developer → Edit Config. Merge the JSON into claude_desktop_config.json, then restart Claude Desktop.
Official instructionsMerge the JSON into .mcp.json in your project root. Start Claude Code in that project, approve the server when prompted, and check it with /mcp.
Official instructionsMerge the JSON into .cursor/mcp.json in your project, or ~/.cursor/mcp.json for all projects. Enable the server in Cursor’s MCP settings.
Official instructionsPaste into .vscode/mcp.json and rename the top-level mcpServers key to servers. Keep the server entry unchanged, then start it from VS Code’s MCP controls.
Official instructionsCursor and Claude use the JSON above. VS Code uses a different top-level key; open its guide for the small adjustment.
Codex uses TOML instead of JSON. Add this to ~/.codex/config.toml, replace the key, and reconnect.

“Show me the available APIVex Yahoo Finance tools and their required inputs. Do not fetch data yet.”
Listing tools uses no API allowance. Fetching data uses your plan’s requests.
MCP gives your assistant a list of tools and the inputs each one needs. When you ask for data, it can call an APIVex endpoint and use the response in your work. Your existing authentication and usage limits still apply.
